OSD retention-detention

OSD retention-detention

The managed release of stormwater from a property into the municipal drainage network during heavy rainstorm events is managed by the on-site retention-detention device commonly known as an OSD. The OSD is a multi-function device capable of filtering the stormwater leaving a property and is usually located at the boundary.

The role of OSD is primarily to reduce the water flow off the property by controlling the volume of stormwater released using an orifice plate restrictor. The standard size of the orifice is nominally 48mm for a suburban property.

The controlled release restricts the loads delivered into the street drainage system during an intense rainstorm event. The capability of the Sparkle Water OSD can include a filter for organics and also act as a silt pit so that the stormwater leaving the property doen't carry contaminants into the street infrastructure.
